Halloween Fun and more!

Ellia was a Halloween Princess. She plays the part so well!!! We attended a party at Uncle Dave and Aunt Jens. It was so fun to see Samantha (a lady bug), Charlotte (Dorothy for the Wizard of Oz) and Ellia interact with each other. The picture of them at the activity table was captured right before one fell over and then it was a domino effect from there.

We also went trick or treating with cousins Alex (spider man) and Samantha. Ellia wanted to walk most of the time so Aunt Jen helped out there. Papa and Grandma Ollis enjoyed the girls and Ellia enjoyed chasing Alex around after we were finished.

When Halloween came, Ellia was content to help me pass out the candy. I put her in the walker by the door and she loved seeing the kids. She would wave at them and point too. The day after trick or treating I letter her look through the candy filled pumpkin. She would inspect the candy, sometimes “try” a piece, but usually throw it on the floor like everything else. Vader got into it too.

We got this pumpkin from daycare. Just the right size for Ellia. Daddy carved it and Ellia was very curious about how it was lighting up.

Well just a couple more days until she is one. I have been reminiscing this past week about last year and how I was extremely pregnant and overdue. It has also been almost a year since I started this blog. I have enjoyed going back and looking at the old posts, which make me smile, chuckle and cry. It is neat to see how my thought pattern progressed and how Kevin and I have taken on parenting. Hopefully I will continue to blog and have a history to share with Ellia someday.
Some new attributes for Ellia lately, ring around the rosy… when we get to ashes, ashes.. she is already falling down. Itsy bitsy spider… she grabs at her hands and also does the rain coming down. She is an expert at “cruising” the furniture (holding on and walking around). She is also practicing walking to Mommy and Daddy. She takes a couple of steps on her own and then we catch her. And Nana Angelo taught her how to drink from a straw. She is getting a couple more teeth and sleeping through the night occasionally..well like 3 days in a row last week and then maybe once every 5 days.. haha.
Yesterday was mommy’s birthday and I remember last year how we all wondered if Ellia would decide to steal the day for herself… but she decided to wait. We went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner and the waitress (Chinese) put a napkin on Ellia’s head.. Ellia was so intent on looking at the lady that she didn’t even realize it was on her head.. so funny. Mommy is nearing the 30 mark... almost there but not just yet.. haha.. Next post will be about Ellia turning one… see you all then!

Here comes Trouble with a capital T!!!!!!

Little miss is now little miss trouble! She has officially learned to crawl up the steps on her own!!! Kevin and I were having a blast watching her work her little bum up the steps with a determined face. We would try not to laugh at her when she would get frustrated and throw her head back in disgust but it was just too cute to see her little personality come out. That was this past Sunday, now she is a regular pro and always goes over to climb the steps. She gets so excited when she accomplishes her goal.

Also, another little miss trouble moment happens when we put her in the playpen. She immediately stands up and gives us beady eyes…so funny to see these little eyes peaking over the rail as if to say, “Hey I am over here! Can’t you see me???” If we don’t pay attention to her she proceeds to pick her toys up out of the playpen and throw them across the room. Again, we tried not to laugh at her because it would make her want to do this more and more but it was too cute.

Oh and then poor Vader is still getting the brunt of it all. Ellia has discovered the sliding screen door leading to our back deck. We had Vader out there this past weekend and he was so confused because he thought Ellia was going to let him in but she was just playing with the screen. You can see his frustration in one of the pictures where he is pressing his snout up against the glass.

And then there is the sticker incident!!! I got these smiley face Santa hat stickers with some junk mail and Daddy thought it would be fun to decorate our child. Oh man did our stomachs hurt from laughing at her expressions when we started sticking them on her. The best was when we put some on her ears like earrings. She looks like an old lady with big jewelry…. Ha-ha… Hope these pictures brighten up your day as much as they did ours.

11 Months!!!!!

Yesterday, Ellia turned 11 months old! Only one more month to go until she turns one!!!! Within the last couple of weeks she has managed to pull herself up in her crib and she also started crawling. She still does some scooting but the crawling is becoming her new favorite. Her hair is growing in more and more as well as some teeth! We have been busy chasing her around the house and even at church, as she no longer sits still for anything. Hopefully I will not be posting in the next couple of weeks that she is walking on her own!!! I don’t know if I am ready for that yet. Here are some shots of her in action.

Nana and Papa Angelo got her a 1st Halloween Sleeper and it makes her look like a jail bird. She even acts the part when she crawls over to her baby gate, stands up and proceeds to pull back and forth on the gate so it makes noise. I still have to figure out what she will be for Halloween. Some ideas in the running – A ballerina, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, or a cow girl.. hmmm….

This past weekend we hung out with Nana and Papa Angelo. Papa Angelo is leaving for 4 months to Indianapolis for work. He will be home every other weekend but we will miss him. I know Nana will need even more visits from Ellia now. Ellia kept Papa busy walking her around the house and she is fascinated by facial features now too so she was trying to pull Papa’s eyebrows off his face and get his teeth out of his mouth. Good thing he still has all of his own teeth in there!!!! We will keep you posted on the Halloween costume dilemma!
